the start of boruto was actual drawn animation and this is just, I was smiling just watching some of those animations.

As time goes on production quality will keep improving lol. Also, just like how the final fight against Momoshiki was different in the movie compared to the anime, they used different people to work on this specific episode. My guess is that they were waiting until all the boring fillers passed before they started pumping all the money into production at the more exciting parts of the series.
